English Requirement for Shifts and 30-Day Suspension Policy

Modified on Wed, 20 Nov at 1:21 PM

Overview

To maintain a professional and safe work environment, it is essential that all workers understand and comply with the specific shift requirements, including language proficiency. If a shift explicitly states that understanding and speaking English is required, you must meet this requirement in order to work that shift.

Non-Compliance Policy: 30-Day Suspension
If you sign up for and attend a shift that requires you to speak and understand English, but you do not meet this requirement, the following will apply:

30-Day Suspension: Regardless of whether the business allows you to work the shift or not, attending a shift without meeting the English language requirement will result in a 30-day suspension from the platform.

This suspension will be enforced to ensure future compliance with shift requirements and to maintain the trust and safety of both businesses and workers.

Why This Policy is Important
Businesses rely on workers being able to communicate effectively for several reasons, including:

  • Safety: It is crucial to understand instructions and emergency protocols to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Productivity: Communication is key to ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and correctly.

  • Customer Interaction: If the job involves interacting with customers, the ability to communicate in English may be essential to the business's service standards.

Attending a shift without meeting the language requirements can create problems for the business and other workers, potentially leading to misunderstandings or safety concerns.

How to Avoid a Suspension
To avoid the 30-day suspension, always carefully review the shift description before signing up. If the shift explicitly states that you must speak and understand English, only sign up if you are sure that you meet this requirement.
